White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday called the latest whistleblower testimony claiming Sen. Adam Schiff approved leaking classified intelligence to discredit President Trump a “bombshell” — urging broader media coverage.
During a White House briefing, Leavitt lauded a career Democratic intelligence officer’s whistleblower account as a “bombshell whistleblower report.”
The revelation stems from a declassified 302 FBI document, released by Kash Patel, showing that the whistleblower warned the FBI in 2017 that then-Rep. Adam Schiff approved leaking classified information to smear then-President Trump during the Russiagate probe.
Leavitt emphasized, “This is obviously a bombshell whistleblower report. Hopefully more people in this room will cover it as such.”
According to the document, the whistleblower — a long-serving House Intel Committee staffer — alleged Schiff convened a meeting stating, “we would leak classified information which was derogatory to President … [and] would be used to indict President Trump.” The source described the activity as unethical and “treasonous.”
The report draws scrutiny from House Republicans, while Schiff’s office dismissed the claims as a smear by a disgruntled former aide — branding them “absolutely and categorically false.”
As this unfolds, the justice system appears to be weighing whether political manipulation of intelligence played a role in undermining public trust in U.S. institutions. Congress may now have pressure to investigate further — especially as similar reports and grand jury investigations surface.
