On Friday at the White House, President Donald Trump shocked reporters with blunt remarks about the ongoing Ukraine war. Referring to the July NATO weapons deal, Trump praised his administration for arranging an agreement where the United States sells arms to NATO allies, who then transfer them to Ukraine.
Trump declared: “We’re not spending any more on the war — we are actually making money on that war.” His comments sparked immediate debate over whether the U.S. should be profiting from global conflict, and how this strategy compares to President Joe Biden’s heavy spending approach on Ukraine.
Supporters applauded Trump’s focus on “America First economics,” arguing that the deal strengthens NATO, arms Ukraine, and boosts U.S. industry at the same time. Critics, however, slammed the remarks as profiteering off of war and warned it could escalate tensions with Russia.
As Trump doubles down on his strategy of profit-driven foreign policy, the Ukraine war enters a new phase — one where U.S. politics, NATO unity, and global security collide. Is Trump right to call it a win, or is America trading morality for money?
